4 Ways to Boost your Immune System

Given the circumstances of what is going on in our world, having a strong immune system is as important as ever! There are many ways to boost your immune system, good and bad. We will of course cover the good ways, unless you are into blood doping…

Having a strong immune system become even more important as you age. The capacity of your immune system reduces as you age, which can contribute to an increase in infections and cancers. Below are a few simple ways to naturally boost your immune system and keep you healthy.

Exercise Regularly

Being a pillar to healthy living, exercise helps to improve cardiovascular health, lowers blood pressure, helps control body weight, and protects against many diseases. Regular exercise mobilizes T cells, the white blood cell that protects the body from infections. 30 min of exercise a day is all you need to see minimal health benefits, with additional exercise seeing added benefits. However, do be careful not to exercise too rigorous, as that can weaken your immune system. The workouts we are posting each day are more than enough to provide you your regularly needed exercise.

Get Adequate Sleep

Inadequate sleep will cause your inflammatory immune system to activate, which will reduce the activity of the good T cells mentioned above. Aiming to get 7-8 hours of sleep each night minimum will keep your immune system in check and on track.

Eat a Diet High in Fruits and Vegetables

Fruits and veggies are chalk-full of nutrients that are essential for our immune system. Consuming them daily helps to keep your immune system strong. Five to seven servings of vegetables daily will give you the vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants that support your immune health.

Reduce Stress

Stress is hard to avoid. It happens to everyone. Small bursts of stress can help your immune system. Long durations of stress create problems and will impede the immune system. It is important to manage things in your life that cause stress and try to avoid situations that cause you stress.

Obviously, these are 4 of the biggest picture items to think about, all part of creating sustainable healthy habits. Our focus now (during the Covid-19 pandemic) is to keep your health and fitness on track during this chaotic time.

So far, everyone has been doing an awesome job!
