Identify your WHY

Identifying your WHY is crucial not just for your health, but for all aspects of your life. While progress without a sense of purpose can be achieved, the added drive and encouragement can make the outcomes more meaningful. Your goals should have enough purpose that you are inspired to accomplish them. To help define your WHY and place you on the quick road to achieving your health goals, answer these questions:

1. What is your end goal?

You need to identify your goal first. All you need to do is ask yourself what you want to accomplish in the next 6-12 months. Being able to clearly define what you want to do will make it easier to take the necessary steps to reach your goals. Remember the SMART rule:  Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Realistic, Time-sensitive.

2. What are the benefits of reaching your goal?

Compile a list of the benefits of you reaching your goal. This may help to discover some additional rewards that you may not have been seeking out originally.

3. What is the source of your change?

This is a key factor in understanding why we want to achieve our goal. You need to identify what the root cause is and how to address it, so that can learn to control it.

4. What are your passions?

Using your passions to fuel your goals is one of the ultimate motivators. Connecting your goals with your passions will keep you more committed and more willing to follow through with what you looking to accomplish.

Once you have identified your why, the next step is to create your action plan for making that goal happen. While it may seem daunting, this will give you a much clearer idea of what it is you need to do. Continue to remind yourself why this is important to you though. This will keep you on track and give you the confidence and momentum to achieve success.
